Reddish Voice, Centre Stage

Hannah Buckley is one of the vocalists with Reddish band Funktion, playing live at Reddfest 2024 ...

I am proud to be a born and bred Reddish girl. This tight-knit community in the heart of Greater Manchester holds a special place in my heart. I love that you can’t walk up Gorton Road without seeing someone you know, or receiving a smile and a ‘Howdo’ from a few friendly faces. Reddish has always been more than just a place to live; it's a place to belong. Reddfest celebrates that with the whole community coming together to celebrate, enjoy great food, and of course, listen to some amazing music. Held in Houldsworth Square, it’s the perfect spot to bring the North and South together.

I was an incredibly shy child, so it would be hard for little Hannah to imagine performing at Reddfest, but that’s the great thing about the arts, they welcome anyone! The first time I ever performed on the stage was at what was then North Reddish Junior School. My incredible year 3 teacher who ran the choir ignited my love for singing and music. Fast forward a few years to my time at Reddish Vale (then Technology College), where I was so encouraged by my fantastic performing arts teachers, and my love for music and performing grew. Now here we are, performing at Reddfest in my band - Funktion. We're a group of close friends from church, united by our passion for music. There's nothing quite like the feeling of playing music with people you care about, and Funktion is all about that. Our love for music and our friendship blend perfectly, creating a unique vibe that we bring to every performance.

Reddfest is more than just an event; it's a celebration of everything that makes Reddish special. It's about coming together, sharing experiences, and creating memories. So, if you're in the area, come down to Reddfest! Enjoy the music, explore the stalls, and soak up the vibrant community spirit. And when you hear Funktion playing, know that we're playing from the heart, for the love of Reddish and for all of you who make this place so special. See you there!
